Tulum is a small town south of Cancun with a Bohemian and hippie vibe. The main areas to stay in Tulum are the center and the hotel zone, where the beaches are. In the center, you can find a more authentic, although still touristic, México. At the hotel zone, you will find a more polished environment, with more stylish architecture, boutique shops, fancy restaurants and hotels.

If you’re looking for great tacos, one of the most well known is Taquería Honorio. The tacos here are great, but you got to get here early since they close at 3pm. Try the Cochinita Pibil and the Relleno Negro. Closed on Tuesdays.

Taquería La Chiapaneca is great to have a quick snack (antojito) or a meal. It is a simple and local restaurant where you can get cheap and delicious tacos o tortas al pastor and other fillings (guisos). Seeing how the big pastor meat is cut outside the restaurant is mesmerizing.

Come here to find one of the local’s secret for amazing ceviche. They have different types of ceviches of different size, and portions are very generous. Order the mixed ceviche to try a bit of everything.
